In the winter of 2011, The Dismemberment Plan played a series of shows in the US and Japan in celebration of the release of the first ever vinyl edition of their underground classic Emergency & I by Seattle indie label Barsuk Records. In the eleven years since its release, Emergency & I has been widely regarded as the definitive artistic statement from the beloved Washington D.C. quartet and has found its way onto many best-of lists, including the #16 spot of Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of the 90's.
Now, The Dismemberment Plan will release their first ever live concert recording, Live in Japan 2011. Recorded live at Shibuya O-nest (9th Feb) in Tokyo, this twenty-three track collection captures the reunited band at their peak, at the only tour stop where no support acts performed.
Included with the album is live footage of the band performing "Back and Forth" (joined by the audience,) and a digital booklet featuring pro-shoot live pics and album credits.
The Dismemberment Plan has only two more announced performances scheduled, June 4th at The Roots Picnic 2011 in Philadelphia and July 16th at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. If you can't make either of those, Live in Japan 2011might help fill the void.
